The Pink saga continues...
In the continuing Going Over To the Pink Side, I've had words with Father Christmas on the secret hotline. Assuming his elves get cracking, babysaxon is going to have a set of pink Carcasonne men in her stocking. She may want pink stuff but Mummy's in charge... |

Sudden influx of energy.
Wow! After getting home feeling knackered for the past two weeks, I find myself arriving home and pondering what to do with the rest o9f the evening. Seems you really do get used to the long hours. I am also of the opinion that my writing sucks. This is not something that I have a huge problem with. Practice will allow me to improve. I would offer excerpts for constructive criticism, but my ego can't quite take that right now. I think next month I'll start writing a few short stories and solicit criticism on those. |

BadgerLAN Winter 2009
A date has been decided for the next BadgerLAN and it will be the 27th until the 29th November 2009. LAN will start about 6 p.m. on Friday and carry on until late evening on Sunday. There will be some crash space for out of town people. Spaces are limited but I think that we can have 8 guests (8/7 people in the dining room and 3 or 4 in the TV Room). I *might* be able to fit more people in but that would mean spreading out through the floors which would be less than ideal. There are a few people that have expressed a fairly definite interest so far but please comment below if you want a reserved space. Guest list so far: chocojon easternpromise enigma_o ev1ldonut (+crash space) azekeil (+crash space) just_a_monkey heymicster |

there might be a problem
I've not really been posting about it because, heck, boring, but there may be a bit of a problem with my knees. The symptoms (crepitus, locking and giving way, pain exacerbated by inactivity, walking on slopes or steps) are suggestive of something called various things but surely the most ironic is "runner's knee". I don't run. Well, sometimes upstairs, or for the bus, or if I'm late. But I don't run. You know, because I have to be careful of my knees. ( pain ) |

It's like rule 34, but for music.
I'm still struggling with the notion that since there is no Peel and my disposable income is generally disposed on tiresome things, discovering that this sort of thing is going on well after all the cool kids have moved on to bus-stop house, trouser metal or spastikk-lawnmoWer is sadly normal. Marvellous racket(s), mind. It's also well worth digging out the strangely-tagged material on that there youtubes. I am also about halfway through 'The girl with the dragon tattoo' and it is being utterly excellent. A bit too info-dumpy to begin with, but it is splendidly Swedish and spending great wedges of a weekend reading the thing while The Chemicals and early Sevs & Kraftwerk burble away in the background is something I should do more of. Yes. There are certain books where you get an adrenaline rush when the plot decides to kick off. Selected Banksies are the ones that spring most immediately to mind. This one's not like that (yet?), but one can certainly feel that the narrative has lumpy cams and a furtled wastegate. Rule 34? It made sense at the time. Current Mood: SpadgerCurrent Music: Glorc |

cat's out of the bag... my sweetie is a Pelican
My sweetie Robert of Canterbury was put on vigil and made a Companion of the Pelican this past weekend. I'll try to write it up anon, but I'm visiting w/ friends in Polderslot, and can't really linger on the keyboard. However, I will mention that if you're in southern ID around Sat 27 Nov, you're welcome to attend the Thamesreach revel, where I hope we'll be have a 'post-vigil' and you can come and give Robert your wise and hard-won advice. More details TBA. Current Mood: really proud |

Almost there
I've had two day's worth of brain clearing before the intense writing period starts. Three loads of laundry have been done, boxes have been acquired from various shoe shops in town, most of the room has been cleared, the excavation clothes have been put away, fabric has been boxed properly (less dusty than storing them in open bags, and more easily stackable), and I can't really find the energy to finish the last bits. Part of me wants to get a small shelf/dvdshelf-sized bookcase for the cook books, which now stand outside the main bookcase, like an informal extension of it, but no furniture shops here have the size I need, nor anything that can easily be modified. And I'm not allowed to take time for making it myself. I have also, despite telling myself that I need to save money, considering the significantly smaller payslip this month, and my expensive pre-order at the re-enactors' market a few weeks ago, managed to buy a couple of long-sleeved t-shirts (on sale!) at Gap, and a lovely greyish-purpley top at White Stuff (no picture online, sadly). I could wear it for New Year's, although I suspect that my New Year's Eve will be spent in front of the computer, with half an hour's break at midnight to see the fireworks. I ought to have a look at the tannery articles, but my brain has gone to sleep, and only left the emergency lights on. Tomorrow, I guess. |
